What are the differences between genre theory and rasa theory..?

Ans- the difference is they both have different spelling. (it’s a stupid difference though, but still a difference)

Anyway…

  • When it comes to film making, genre theory is a Greek theory for theater, film making, music or poetry, and rasa theory is an Indian theory for theater, film making, music or poetry, and dance. (it’s a geographical difference between them)
  • Genre theory is an expression and representation of different concepts and situations, where rasa theory is an expression and representation of different human feelings.

The way of film making using one of these seems to be different sometimes, seems to be similar sometimes, but both are valuable, that’s for sure…

Which one to go through…. the choice is yours.

What is the similarity between genre theory and rasa theory..?

Ans-the similarity is they both are used for entertainment purposes, and both are very much related to each other. (means, way of creating concepts, situations and connect to human feelings, are related, particularly for film making. Neither genre theory is completely related to rasa theory, nor vice versa )

So, it doesn’t matter which one you picked up for your film making..you can not avoid concepts, situations and human feelings.

It means even if you choose one out of these two, you are not completely avoiding the other one.

Just the perception is different.

  • In genre theory through concepts and situations you express the human feelings, in rasa theory through human feelings you express the concepts and situations.

It sounds confusing..doesn’t it?

Don’t worry..confusion leads to questions…questions lead to answers… And answers give you the clarity..and clarity is the solution for problems.

Now the questions are-

  • What is genre theory ? and what are the different kinds of concepts and situations ?
  • What is rasa theory ? And what are the different kinds of human feelings ?
